Once Upon a Railway

Banks-Vernonia State Trail

Rains and winds abated and allowed a lovely walk along an old railway that has been converted into a trail. Debris and fallen trees remained from the recent storm, and creeks overflowed their banks and threatened to collapse a small section of the pathway. Rabbits hopped here and there while small birds chirped and twittered in the brush and trees. In the distance chaotic honking of geese grew louder and louder until great flocks cleared a nearby ridge and landed in an adjacent field. It seemed that all nature was as happy for the return of better weather as we were.
