Kites About to Fly

Swallow-tailed Kites

They arrived in early spring and before long, chirps and cries of young in their nests could be heard. Later the young fledged and joined the adults in the skies, often circling overhead while we floated about in the pool. Now, they are flocking together, parenting chores done, and will soon be flying thousands of miles back to South America. I will miss them.
