Mel Odorous

This curious little bug watched as I cleaned some cocoons from the door jam. For some reason I left it alone, other than take its picture. Good thing. I later found out that it is Euthyrhynchus floridanus, aka Florida predatory stink bug. I’m really glad that I didn’t find out how it got its name. However, it is considered beneficial since it eats pest insects that damage plants and crops.

Since it seemed kind of cute, I named it “Mel,” and despite its odiferous nature, it does have its good points. I can relate.
