Fairy was playing the role of “The Little Red Hen” again as the ingredients rested on the countertop for what I call “Fairy’s World-famous Homemade Bread.” I could already imagine the comforting aroma of baking bread permeating the house. Somehow, through the magic of a wheat grinder, an oven, and Fairy’s skilled hands, five warm, fresh loaves of bread would soon appear; one for each of my greedy fingers.

My wife Fairy and I travel frequently to the Pacific Islands of Hawaii, and French Polynesia, and I have learned several of their native-language songs.
