The plane touched down gently on the short, tropical runway, and decelerated briskly before turning around and taxiing back to the terminal. A pond of water between runway and taxiway testified to the heavy rain that had just passed, but the skies parted and we were spared walking through the downpour as sun-burnished clouds welcomed us to George Town.
