Just as the charts predicted, Venus and the Moon seemed to almost touch yesterday morning, and appeared to wink and smile. However, the charts could not have predicted that a bat would photobomb the image; it seemed to just brush the top of the darker part of the Moon. I could have easily erased theContinue reading “A Wink and a Smile”

More than a Moth-ful
While washing windows, I found this lizard with its breakfast on the hose that I needed to spray the windows on that side of the house. The lizard scampered away with his moth moments after I took the photo, but a little while later I found him, still smacking his lips from his gigantic meal,Continue reading “More than a Moth-ful”
Dog’s Patience
The two-leggers were done petting, and scratching him behind his ears and had started talking, which was of no interest to him whatsoever. So Finley did the only logical thing; he lay down to rest until it was time to start moving again. He didn’t whine or complain about being ignored or of how hardContinue reading “Dog’s Patience”
Home Henge
Every year around the time of the equinox, windows in our entry way project light patterns from the rising sun across our living room furniture. Like Stonehenge, we have our own seasonal solar calendar in our own home that is telling us that fall is here. #homehenge #stonehenge #sunrise #seasons
Gifts from Afar
These may look like souvenirs a tourist might buy while on a trip to exotic lands, but they are far more valuable than that. They are gifts from hosts turned friends during our multiple trips to Bora Bora. As such they are treasured more than anything money could buy and symbolize why we are compelledContinue reading “Gifts from Afar”
Time Traveler
I stepped out of the car in a parking lot paved with local crushed rock and discovered this fossil shell next to my foot. It had lived millions of years ago when shallow seas covered most of the Florida peninsula and laid down the Ocala Limestone formation that I was now treading upon. Somehow itsContinue reading “Time Traveler”
Pineapple Patch
The heads of the pineapples we ate over the past several days are now planted in the ground in our backyard along with more mature plants that produced the fruit that we enjoyed. It will take two years for the youngsters to bear fruit, but the older plants will likely provide more sweet treats nextContinue reading “Pineapple Patch”
Look Out Below!
A branch similar to the one suspended in the tree in the top photo crashed down onto our front yard a couple of days ago during a rainstorm. After being cut up, its remains filled one large trash container plus the bottom of the one in the lower picture. The single section at the topContinue reading “Look Out Below!”
Morning Gold
As the sun prepared to rise up from the eastern horizon, golden fingers of light poked beneath the clouds to tickle their undersides with delight. While “all that glitters is not gold,” this moment was certainly golden in more ways than one. #sunrise #golden #lightshow
Toad Bath?
Usually they have a domed top like a soft cushiony, umbrella-shaped stool, so that’s why I like the term “toadstool.” However this one seems shaped more like a birdbath, so might it be called a toad bath? If so, the last toad to use it must have really needed a bath! #toadstool #toadbath #mushroom
