Yesterday morning the chrysalises were green with shiny yellow beads across the top. Been There, Pecked That

A dead tree provides life-giving nourishment to this piliated woodpecker. Obviously this isn’t the first time at this tree. The bird alternately listened and pecked here and there, frequently finding morsels of food.
