Up, Up, and Away

SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch

Cape Canaveral is nearly 140 miles away, yet we can see rockets as they are launched here in Ocala, Florida. We were playing a game at friends house yesterday, but we put the cards down and went outside to see this launch. Flames from the first stage were visible through the trees, then finally it rose above the trees as the booster separated and then the second stage ignited. It left behind a contrail contorted by the winds aloft. SpaceX has successfully launched 196 space missions so far, and it is amazing to watch, even at this distance.
