New Year’s Day brought balmy weather, perfect for a trek through the local woods. Along the way we found this old, weathered log covered with fungi that reminded us of scallops that could be found at the beach. But these “scallops” feed on fallen fodder rather than filtering seawater. Acorns along the edges of the photo hint at the size of these thriving fungi.
