Waning Crescent Moon

The morning crescent moon is heading towards a meeting with the sun on Monday, April 8, 2024. It will pass in front of the sun to produce a total eclipse for the fortunate along a narrow line across the US. For many of the rest of us, a partial eclipse will be visible, and in Florida, the sun will look a lot like this crescent moon at maximum eclipse. The dark area will the part blocked by the moon.

To view the partially eclipsed sun, the eyes must be protected by specially filtered eclipse glasses, or viewed by pinhole projection. For further details on how to see the eclipse safely, see: https://www.exploratorium.edu/eclipse/how-to-view-eclipse

Remember: Never look at the sun with naked eye, or with telescopes or binoculars that lack an approved, safe solar filter!
