The lady working at U-Haul gave me as strange look when I told her that the box we were buying would be used to send an ukulele to French Polynesia. While we were there recently, friends we had visited liked the one that I had with me. It’s an Outdoor Ukulele, made of carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate. It has a wonderful sound and endures the elements much better than a wooden one. They had asked about getting one like it for their son who is an entertainer on a cruise ship.
It is very difficult to buy things like that and have them delivered to Moorea in French Polynesia. No problem! We were happy to order one for them from Outdoor Ukulele, play it a bit, and then send it on to them. It’s on its way, and thought it will take a few weeks to arrive at it destination, there will be smiles on both sides of the Pacific when it does. Ukuleles do that to people.
