Beam Me Anywhere, Scotty

Fiber-optics En Route

White pickups from Texas and young men in work clothes have appeared in our neighborhood, painting symbols on the pavement, orange streaks across all the lawns, and hurling bright, orange flags into the ground with great precision. Before long, there will be “excavation” for fiber-optic cables that we will soon be using for internet access and will be able to beam ourselves (figuratively) almost anywhere.

We are happy for the change since it should be much more reliable than the cable that we currently use. That one frequently goes down, and ironically when it does, that provider’s name lends itself well to some rather crude jokes which won’t appear on this blog. I prefer to keep the posts rated “PG,” which can also stand for “Pretty Good” or “Pretty Goofy,” depending on the day.
