Shades of Green

Green Long-legged Fly

I remember these little, iridescent-green insects with clear wings buzzing about the farm when I was a kid in Nebraska. They were daintier and cuter than the stupid house flies that seemed to be everywhere. I used to wonder how they got their delicate, green iridescence, and even though I now understand the physics behind it, it is still a wonder.
