Over half a mile wide and several hundred feet high at tide water, Holgate Glacier’s advancing cold shoulder greeted us at the end of our day cruise out of Seward, Alaska. Small icebergs floated out from its front, and the captain played the theme song from the movie, Titanic, as we crept closer.
Crew used nets to fish out some floating ice for us to view and handle, and some of the ice was used to make “icebergrita’s,” to the tune of Jimmy Buffet’s song “Margaritaville.”
The cold reception provided by the glacier was quite delightful, but I always thought that Jimmy preferred a warmer climate.

The color in the Glacier as well as the size is so fascinating. Where to next?Sent from my Galaxy
