Where Glaciers Once Trod

The glacier is curiously named for it is retreating from this scene rather than exiting out of the mountains and into the sea. As we approached this viewpoint, signs marked where the glacier had been in years past. Included were my birth year about half a mile from where I took this photo, and the birth year of my mother even farther back. It was curious how even this stark, cold glacier and its harsh surroundings could find a way to warm my heart with memories of the past.
