Just to the right of center, the mighty hunter Orion strolls by in the morning sky with his faithful dog star, Sirius to the lower left. Just below Orion’s feet six stars frame a hare, Lupus, that rests quietly, perhaps hoping not to be discovered by either Orion or his canine friend. On the upper right the V-shaped head of Taurus, the bull, watches warily, but seems disinclined to disrupt the otherwise tranquil scene.
So much for the mythology; when I look at Orion and Sirius, I see something much closer to my heart, my grandson walking his dog.
