A small, female wasp not only laid eggs in the tiny, mud nests seen in the photo, but left “treats” for its offspring to appreciate later when they hatch and need nourishment to grow. Wasp Nest
On our way back from our walk recently we discovered this wasp nest on our lawn. It apparently had fallen from a tree. The egg chambers are surrounded by paper-like layers, presumably to protect from sun and weather.
