That’s About the End of That

Like the sign and the sheriff, standard time is about to expire.

Just like this sign, standard time is shot to hell for another season. Tomorrow we lurch into “Daylight Savings Time.” The daylight doesn’t get any longer, Earth’s rotation doesn’t change, and the Sun doesn’t care. All we do is change a label and put mind and body into a confused conflict, just like this sign, while efficiency slips and accidents increase. In a few weeks we’ll get it sorted out, but in the meantime I wouldn’t plan any long trips, major surgeries, or other things requiring a sharp, sound mind.
