I first witnessed rhodies in full bloom while driving to a temporary job in Port Townsend, Washington, many years ago. I was amazed by their abundant beauty springing up on all sides of the road. They were a healing balm to a weary mind after I had completed a very unpleasant assignment at a small hospital and was well on the way to much better things to come. It was very nice to see the colorful blossoms once again with their message of hope and happiness.
