The plants appear to be newcomers to the patch, and they are in a sense. However, not long ago they were the tops of other pineapples that grew on the mature plants behind them so, they are returning to their place of origin. Someday, if we’re lucky, they will eventually produce more pineapples that will have tops to be replanted and continue their cycle of life. Fare thee well, little plants.
