They say it was as good as it looks. I wouldn’t know, I had to drive. #cider #restaurant #driving

Pain of the Pane
Poor McCartney, he is such a sweet little fellow and could be so much fun, if only someone would “Let ‘Em In.” (With apologies to Sir Paul) #dog #windowpane #puppy #let’emin
Beer Belly Bushes
These bushes are neatly trimmed but resemble beer bellies suffering “Dunlop’s Disease.” (From the expression: “My belly done lopped over my belt.”) Perhaps the trimmer should have lopped off a little more on this side. At least they don’t suffer from “Dickiedo Disease,” but I probably better not go there. #dunlopsdisease #lopped #bushes
Ponies and Peonies
Just wanted to share some of the beautiful sights from the Columbia Basin. Thanks Karen for resurrecting my childhood interest in horses, and thanks Jim and Debbie for the beautiful flowers. #columbiabasin #peonies #ponies
Fable of the Table
The aptly named Fable Restaurant was the site of a recent delightful dinner along the Columbia River. Boats bobbed in slack water behind Bateman Island while we were being seated at our outdoor table in the shade. Unfortunately, the umbrella of the next table was removed a short time later, exposing us to hot sun,Continue reading “Fable of the Table”
Koi Duck
“If you build it, they will come,” a fantasy baseball movie once declared. This certainly applies to water. A beautiful backyard koi pond is also the home to mallard ducks that help themselves to this private pool. This is certainly more delightful than the alligators that we would find in nearly every body of waterContinue reading “Koi Duck”
On the Rhodies Again
I first witnessed rhodies in full bloom while driving to a temporary job in Port Townsend, Washington, many years ago. I was amazed by their abundant beauty springing up on all sides of the road. They were a healing balm to a weary mind after I had completed a very unpleasant assignment at a smallContinue reading “On the Rhodies Again”
House of Memories
Decades ago we watched this house arise on open, treeless land. We had grass laid in the yard and planted trees, roses, rhododendrons, and a hedge. Inside the house, a family grew, milestones were passed, and triumph arose from near tragedy. In due course our children went their own ways and we moved on toContinue reading “House of Memories”
Run River Run
Heavy snows are melting and sending water roaring down the Cascade Mountains to the Columbia River, which is also swollen with snowmelt. Foam, mist and a dreadful roar arose from the river, adding to the mystic of the scene while we warily watched the treacherous waters from a safe distance. #wenatcheeriver #cascades #spring #snowmelt
A Gift of Wings
Somewhere on the peaks near the center of this photo lie the remains of the Old Aviator. He loved mountains nearly as much as he loved to fly, and he passed his love of flying and mountains to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Per his request, his ashes were dropped by his three sonsContinue reading “A Gift of Wings”
