Once again, a jet photobombed one of my solar images. We live over an approach and departure area for several mid-Florida airports. As a result, sometimes their space and my space becomes our space with interesting results. Well, interesting for me at least; they really have no idea. #photobomb #sun #airplane

Fineapples
There were no pineapple fruits from the plants this year since the patch was replanted last year from the fruit tops and from suckers of the old ones and hadn’t had time to mature. Next year, however, they should start producing, as long as we can keep them from freezing over the winter. I thinkContinue reading “Fineapples”
Jack-o’-Lantern
Another Halloween decoration reminds me of one of my favorate tales of the origin of the Jack-o’-lantern. That story goes that a mischevious fellow named Jack finally died and was sent to his eternal reward. Unfortunately, his shenanigans precluded entry into heaven. Furthermore, his practical jokes on the Devil made him not welcome in theContinue reading “Jack-o’-Lantern”
Haunted Moon
Several years ago, just before Halloween, I took this photo of the Moon seemingly haunted by the season. It has moved on, as have I, but it’s spectre still lurks in my memoy. #moon #halloween #haunted
Moon and Jupiter
The full Moon rose ahead of Jupiter in the eastern sky to form a magical pair hovering just above the trees last night. Tonight they will be close together again in the early evening sky, and this time Jupiter will be higher than the Moon; well worth a look. #moon #jupiter
Two Happy
This Halloween gourd, with its Jack-o’-lantern faces, joined our family about 20 years ago when we moved to Florida. It added smiles to our faces amid the confusion accompanying the recent move and continues to do so to this day. #jack-0′-lantern #halloween #florida #gourd
Mellow Yellow
Mild weather has fostered the continued blooming of our plumeria. Before long this will end and the plants will drop their leaves and blossoms, but for the time being we will delight in their beauty. #plumeria
A Matter of Perspective
We have had this scarecrow decoration for over 40 years and no, it hasn’t sprouted giant black ears. It just happens to be lined up with the ears of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, which is is on the opposite side of the counter. What we can see just depends on our point of view. #perspectiveContinue reading “A Matter of Perspective”
My Own Constellation
The vision of the “V” shaped Hyades star cluster in the constellation, Taurus, and a bright star beyond the apex of the “V” reminded me of a Tahitian Ukulele. Four stars of the cluster frame the body of the ukulele in this picture, and the star at the apex of the “V” can be seenContinue reading “My Own Constellation”
Morning Glory
The orange glow from the coming sunrise penetrated the trees to cast golden light through the transom window above the front door. This rare sight lasted just long enought for me to get a photo and then it was gone, but it will never be forgotten. #sunrise #dawn
