Backyard Blooms
This plant took its time, but now it is producing fragrant blossoms that we have been enjoying for the past week or two. The flowers make sweet smelling decoration as they float in a bowl of water on the counter and remind us of Hawai’i and of faraway islands in the South Pacific. #plumeria #fragranceContinue reading “Backyard Blooms”
Not Yacht-worthy
The serene scene reminded me of the ending of the movie, “Second Hand Lions,” where a large, ocean-going yacht was seen floating in an even smaller pond. Nope, this is more suited to rowboats than yachts and it makes me miss my dinghy, “Phishie.” I had to sell it when we moved to Florida fromContinue reading “Not Yacht-worthy”
Tis the Season
Summer is here in Florida, and that means two things, heat and storms. Even though there are no hurricanes nearby, the afternoons always bring threats of thunderstorms with high winds and drenching rains. But that is not all bad; they also cool the air significantly. Yesterday the temperatures went from the low 90’s to theContinue reading “Tis the Season”
Sunbeams and Shadows
The rising sun shone brightly through the decorated window above the door and cast shadows on the adjacent wall; another brief but bright memory. #morning #sunbeam #shadows

It made me think of the chorus of the song “Ruby Tuesday” by the Rolling Stones. “Goodbye, Ruby TuesdayWho could hang aContinue reading “Ruby Tuesday”
Strings Strung
The strings were sprung and worn; time to replace them. They were loosened, then cut and removed. The fretboard was cleaned and treated as well as the rest of the wood. One by one, the new strings were attached and tightened. Finally they were treated with string conditioner, stretched and tuned, and retuned and… ItContinue reading “Strings Strung”
Cardinals Rule
Rain clouds dampened the surroundings and darkened the scene until this colorful cardinal, undaunted by the recent weather, came to enlighten the view. Even on the gloomiest of days they can always make things brighter, and I am quite happy to say that I also know some people like that. #cardinal #rules #enlighten #rainyday
What Goes Up…
There was a hot time in the old town on Fourth of July night. Heavy rains ceased just in time for the fiery revelry to commence. We remained indoors during the flashy commotion, and I am glad that we did. The next morning we found the remains of fired works that had landed in ourContinue reading “What Goes Up…”
Not All Who Wander…
