I love mornings, with the magic that it brings as the rising sun gives light and life to the day. #morning #risingsun #sunlight #rays

Bahama Bottle Lights
Lights in bottles above the bar at the Bahama Breeze restaurant in Westley Chapel, Florida, cast a golden glow on the wall and barrels while we dined. We enjoyed the meal even more than the lights and ambiance and will be returning. #bahamabreeze #bottles #lights
Tales Orange
These oranges always ripen in February, during some of the coldest time of the year. Yet, they seem to be doing well since we’ve had no hard freezes this year (yet). They remind me of a story I read in an aviation magazine several years ago. It seems that a skydiver had discovered that theContinue reading “Tales Orange”
Winter Crescent
The waning crescent moon graced the February morning sky as it faced the sun which was soon to rise. Even though the moon rose well before the sun, it was still low to the horizon, following the sun’s own path through the winter sky. #moon #crescent #sun #winter
Amusement at the Park
During a past visit to Disney’s EPCOT Center we were entertained by ibises soliciting a free meal. They found plenty to eat from spills and handouts and added greatly to the amusement of the park. #ibis #epcot #amusement
Starship
Who ever heard of grandparents (like us) going to a rock concert? That wouldn’t have happened in my younger days when our parents detested such sounds, but now we are the senior generation that grew up with rock music. The band masterfully played songs from an era that resonates with the youth that we stillContinue reading “Starship”
The Present Past
What a sight to behold, both then and now. Once an ominous bastion, it is now an imposing relic of the past. It was first built in the 11th century over a 4th century Roman fort, and was refurbished and rebuilt several more times through the subsequent centuries, while it sometimes successfully, sometimes not, fendedContinue reading “The Present Past”
Upside Downy
We were nearly home from a morning walk when the rapid tap-tap-tap of a small woodpecker drew our eyes upward. A downy woodpecker dangled from a small, broken branch directly overhead as it pecked and dined on the larvae it found. Then it ascended slowly, spiraling around the vertical branch, stopping now and then toContinue reading “Upside Downy”
100 Down, 900 to Go
Yesterday, during our morning walk, we crossed the 100 mile mark for this year. That means we have 900 left go go for the 2024. That may sound like a lot of walking, but for us it is a lot of happy wandering. PS–Happy Groundhog Day! #hike #walk #woods #100miles
Spectral Sprite
A sliver of sun pierced through tree branches and careened through a beveled window corner which split the beam into its full range of colors. Instantly the prismatic glass showered its rainbow of light to paint this spectrum on the wall, It hovered a few moments and then quickly faded from view; a momentary, colorfulContinue reading “Spectral Sprite”
