I found these huge chocolate bunnies on the shelf at Costco about six weeks before Easter. If I ever saw a live bunny that size, I think I might run and hide. They may be hollow but they are 4.4 pounds of chocolate which, of course, my instincts are to run to, not from. Let’sContinue reading “Peter Chocolate Tail”

Planetary Trifecta
As yesterday came to a close, planets in the western sky gradually appeared one by one. In this photo Venus rests in the orange glow just above a rooftop. Several minutes later, Saturn came into view near the wispy clouds just below the branches in the upper part of the photo. Finally, as the twilightContinue reading “Planetary Trifecta”
Lesser “Anthilles”
Anthills appeared to rise like islands in an asphalt ocean and reminded me of a chain of volcanic islands in the southeastern Caribbean. Now if I could just think of a name to call them… #anthills #caribbean #lesserantilles
How Much Wood Would…
Two piliated woodpeckers pecked away at trees and stumps and about anything else made of wood in our backyard. Chips of wood from limbs and old stumps flew in various directions and littered the ground below proving that unlike the proverbial woodchuck, they certainly could chuck wood. #woodpecker #piliated, #woodchuck #chuckwood
Rorschach-ed
Low light from the setting sun cast a shadow of a bottle stopper across the countertop that was both startling and amazing. I would never have imagined such a sight. How did it do that? It looked like neither a bottle stopper nor a shadow at first glance, but rather a figure suspended in space.Continue reading “Rorschach-ed”
Due to Dew?
Droplets of water sparkled like due in the soft morning light. Then it dawned on me that the sprinklers had just finished watering so, the droplets on the flowers were not just due to dew. #dew #due #morning
Twilight’s Last Gleaming
The thin crescent Moon was higher than usual in the sky last night due to the inclination of its orbit. See it once more tonight and also in four weeks when again it will be a thin crescent smiling high in the “twilight’s last gleaming.” #twilight #gleaming #moon
Cold Weather Companions
They showed up in February just before the really cold (for central Florida) weather hit. Now it is warmer and they are nowhere to be seen. Next week more cold weather will return, but will the goldfinch? #goldfinch #coldweather
Landlocked Lighthouse
Though surrounded by land, rowboats and a tug anchored near a lighthouse on an inland lake in the soft light of the setting sun give the feeling of actually being by the seashore. #lighthouse #thevillages #boats #seashore
Bloomin’ Weather
The freezing temperatures departed last week and now the lanai is the perfect place for these tulips to bloom and grow. Let’s hope the mild weather continues, and that Mother Nature smiles upon these blossoms as much as we have. #tulips #coldweather #blooms
